A Palestinian teenager was shot dead after injuring three Israelis in a knife attack in Jerusalem's Old City on Saturday, according to Israeli police.

The alleged attacker stabbed two Israeli bystanders with a knife before running away, police said.

He was chased by security forces and shot dead after injuring one of his pursuers.

The Palestinian Maan news agency quoted the Israeli police saying the Palestinian killed was a 17-year-old boy from Nablus, West Bank.

Police said all three who had been stabbed were lightly wounded.

In the wake of the accident, clashed briefly broke out. The Israeli authorities closed access to the Old City and arrested around twenty Palestinians, of which 16 merchants according to the Palestinian Information Center.

Another Palestinian was killed on Wednesday after allegedly trying to stab an Israeli patrol with a pair of scissors near Damascus Gate, in Jerusalem's Old City.

A video of the aftermath of the attack emerged, showing an Israeli man allegedly injured and security forces running in an alley before shots can be heard.
