The UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Ocha, released an update report saying that on Sunday, at least 33 trucks carrying humanitarian supplies entered Gaza via the Rafah crossing with Egypt.

"This is the largest delivery of humanitarian aid since 21 October, when limited deliveries resumed. While this increase is welcome, a much larger volume of aid is needed on a regular basis to prevent further deterioration in the dire humanitarian situation, including civil unrest," Ocha said in its statement.

The UN agency added that fuel must be allowed to enter the besieged enclave.

In its update, Ocha also noted that more than 1.4 million people in Gaza have been internally displaced as a result of Israel's bombing campaign, and around 671,000 are currently sheltering in 150 UN facilities.

A large crowd in the hundreds stormed an airport in the capital of Dagestan, a province in Russia, on Sunday evening in protest of a flight that had arrived from Israel.

Local authorities on Sunday closed the airport in Makhachkala and there were reports of several injuries, but no arrests.

“As a result of the incident at Makhachkala airport, there are injured [people], who are receiving medical help,” Dagestan’s health ministry said on Telegram.

Videos shared on social media showed a large crowd on the airport's landing field waving Palestinian flags and also showed some people checking the passports of passengers who had arrived in the city.

Dagestan's regional government called on its citizens to not participate in such protests, while also appealing to the population by voicing support for Palestinians in Gaza.

“It is not easy for each of us to stand and watch the inhumane massacre of a civilian population – the Palestinian people. At the same time, we urge residents of the republic not to succumb to provocations of destructive groups and not to create panic in society," the government said on Telegram.

Along with Chechnya, Dagestan is a Muslim-majority region in the North Caucasus area of Russia.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office condemned the protest, and said it expects Moscow to "protect the safety of all Israeli citizens and Jews wherever they may be and to act resolutely against the rioters and against the wild incitement directed against Jews and Israelis".

A second Palestinian man was killed by Israeli forces during a military raid on the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, according to several Palestinian news agencies.

Over the past several weeks, Israeli forces have been launching incursions into cities in the West Bank, including Jenin which is home to a stronghold of Palestinian fighters.

The Israeli military raid on Jenin led to confrontations with Palestinian fighters, and local reports stated that several Israeli military vehicles withdrew after being targeted with explosive devices.

The number of children killed in Gaza since 7 October has now surpassed the annual number of children killed across the world's conflict zones since 2019, according to the charity Save the Children.

At least 3,195 children have been reported killed in Gaza from Israeli air strikes, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. That's more than the number of children killed in armed conflicts across more than 20 countries around the world over the course of a whole year, for the previous three years.

"Three weeks of violence have ripped children from families and torn through their lives at an unimaginable rate. The numbers are harrowing and with violence not only continuing but expanding in Gaza right now, many more children remain at grave risk," Jason Lee, Save the Children's director in the occupied Palestinian territories, said in a statement.

"One child’s death is one too many, but these are grave violations of epic proportions. A ceasefire is the only way to ensure their safety. The international community must put people before politics—every day spent debating is leaving children killed and injured. Children must be protected at all times, especially when they are seeking safety in schools and hospitals."

Congressman Mike Johnson, the new Speaker of the US House of Representatives, said on Sunday that he expects to advance a funding bill to support Israel exclusively, as President Joe Biden is pushing for a $106bn combined aid package for both Ukraine and Israel.

"We're going to move a stand-alone Israel funding bill this week in the House," Johnson said in an interview on Fox News.

"There are lots of things going on around the world that we have to address and we will," Johnson said, without explicitly mentioning Ukraine. "But right now what’s happening in Israel takes the immediate attention, and we’ve got to separate that and get it through.”

Biden's budget request calls for $106bn, the majority of which would go to bolster Ukraine's defenses against Russia, and the remainder of the money split between Israel, the Indo-Pacific region and immigration enforcement along the US-Mexico border.

Biden's budget request also includes a call to fund the “potential needs of Gazans fleeing to neighboring countries”, raising fears of US support for the displacement of Palestinians from the besieged enclave.

US President Joe Biden and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi spoke over the phone on Sunday, where the two leaders discussed efforts to release the Israeli captives held by Hamas, as well as helping Americans in Gaza leave the enclave safely.

According to Biden, the two leaders also said they shared a commitment to "ensuring that Palestinians in Gaza are not displaced to Egypt or any other nation".

The statement is significant, considering that a number of Israeli officials and prominent figures have brought up the idea of Palestinians in Gaza being forced to leave the area and head into Egypt.

MEE also reported on Friday that in a $105bn budget request, the Biden administration asked Congress to fund the “potential needs of Gazans fleeing to neighboring countries”.

Palestinians feared the request suggests the White House is endorsing the mass displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
