300,000 people in northern Gaza at risk of famine: UN

The risk of famine in Gaza is “increasing by the day”, especially for some 300,000 people in northern Gaza, the UN’s aid agency, OCHA, has said in its daily update.

OCHA reported that the World Food Programme has warned that the amount of humanitarian aid reaching Gaza City in the north is “not enough to prevent a famine”.

The last time Unrwa was able to carry out a food distribution in the north of Wadi Gaza was 23 January, said OCHA.

With hostilities entering their 5th month, hundreds of thousands remain in the area to the north of Wadi #Gaza - largely cut off from humanitarian assistance.

In the south, over half of Gaza’s population is crammed in Rafah, in abysmal living conditions.
