Live Blog Update| Israel's genocide in Gaza

Good afternoon Middle East Eye readers,

Here are the latest updates from Gaza after Israel refused to implement the second phase of the ceasefire deal:

  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has blocked all aid from entering Gaza after Hamas refused to implement Israel's plan to extend the first phase of the ceasefire deal.
  • Netanyahu's move has been praised by prominent right-wing Israeli ministers.
  • Hamas has called Israel’s aid blockade a violation of the ceasefire agreement and urged Israel to respect the original terms.
  • Israeli forces carried out several attacks across Gaza, with medical sources saying the attacks had killed at least four people.
  • Israel said Hamas would "face the consequences" for refusing to extend the first phase of the ceasefire deal.
  • Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said Cairo will press for its "full ceasefire deal" that will ensure Palestinians remain on their land in Gaza. Abdelatty added that he will call on the European Union to enforce this plan.
