Al Jazeera condemns Israeli air strikes that killed journalist’s family, vows legal action

Al Jazeera condemned the Israeli air strikes that resulted in the death of 22 family members of Al Jazeera journalist Moamen al-Sharafi, in a statement released Wednesday.

“The Network demands that the Israeli military is held accountable for the daily crimes committed against journalists and innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip,” the statement said.

Al Jazeera added that it will pursue all legal steps to hold accountable those who are responsible for the crime.

An Israeli air strike that struck Gaza’s Jabalia refugee camp killed al-Sharafi's father, mother, three children, nieces, nephews, and several siblings, the news agency announced on Wednesday.

Al-Sharafi told Al Jazeera that an explosive barrel hit the home, resulting in a deep hole.

“We are prevented from saying goodbye to our loved ones, and are deprived of giving them a proper burial,” he added.
