Brazil condemns Israel’s attacks on refugee camps, demands end to West Bank assault

Brazil’s Foreign Ministry has voiced “deep concern” over Israel’s escalating military raids on refugee camps in Jenin, Tulkarem, and Nur al-Shams in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement, it denounced Israel’s use of tanks, military occupation, and the “the forced displacement of approximately 40,000 residents from these camps, in violation of international law and international humanitarian law.”

The ministry also demanded that Israel allow uninterrupted humanitarian aid and permit Unrwa to continue its work “for the benefit of the refugee population.”

Citing a 2024 advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice, which ruled Israel’s occupation illegal, Brazil urged an immediate halt to military operations in the West Bank.
