Canada backs Israel after it attacked Lebanon

Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly stated that she has been in contact with her Israeli counterpart, reaffirming Canada's support for Israel's security, including against Hezbollah.

“The international community must continue to do everything it can to prevent further escalation,” she posted on X. “We continue to support an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, alongside the complete release of hostages.”

The Canadian government, along with other Western nations that provide military support to Israel, particularly the U.S., is facing increasing calls to impose an arms embargo on Israel amid the Gaza conflict, which has resulted in over 40,000 deaths since October.
