China rejects use of Gaza as a ‘bargaining chip’

China has condemned attempts to use Gaza and the occupied West Bank as “bargaining chips in political trade-offs”, Foreign Minister Wang Yi told the United Nations Security Council.

"China supports all efforts conducive to peace talks," Wang said, warning that the crisis in Gaza must not be sidelined while global attention remains on Ukraine.

Beijing has repeatedly criticised Israel’s actions, accusing it of far exceeding “self-defence” by killing tens of thousands of Palestinians and rendering Gaza uninhabitable.
