Dutch police arrest pro-Palestine demonstrators in Amsterdam

Dutch police on Sunday arrested a number of protesters after they staged a demonstration in Amsterdam despite a court order banning pro-Palestine protests.

The court order came three days after Israeli hooligans provoked clashes with Dutch youth in Amsterdam by chanting racist anti-Arab slogans and tearing down Palestinian flags.

An AFP correspondent reported that police in riot gear moved in on the demonstrators in Dam Square, in the city centre.

Amsterdam police had earlier instructed protesters to leave the square and said they would arrest people who refused to leave.
