Ex-US ambassador says 'deal' with Hamas a 'waste of time'

David Friedman, who served as US ambassador to Israel under the first Trump administration has criticised US hostage envoy Adam Boehler for attempting a "deal" with Hamas.

In a post on social media, Friedman said such a move would be a "waste of time and will never be kept".

During his time as ambassador, Friedman pushed pro-Israel policies and is the founder of an organisation that calls for the illegal annexation of the occupied West Bank.
