France's Macron reaffirms 'Israel's right to defend itself'

French President Emmanuel Macron says France "reaffirms Israel's right to defend itself", adding that it has repeatedly condemned Iran's nuclear programme.

"To avoid jeopardizing the stability of the entire region, I call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and to de-escalate," he wrote in a post on X.
