Hamas claims ambush on multiple Israeli military vehicles in Rafah
The armed wing of Hamas, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, claimed an ambush targeting a number of Israeli military vehicles in Rafah which it said led to Israeli casualties amid ongoing clashes.
In an update shared on the messaging app Telegram, the Qassam Brigades said its fighters destroyed two Namer armoured personnel carriers using an anti-armour grenade and missile.
Shortly after, two Merkava tanks were targeted using an anti-armour missile and a landmine.
The ambush took place in George Street near the al-Taabeen mosque east of Rafah, the Qassam Brigades said.
It added helicopters were spotted landing in the location of the attack to transfer wounded soldiers and that clashes were ongoing.
Middle East Eye could not independently verify the claim. The Israeli military did not immediately comment.
