Israel bans UN special rapporteur Francesca Albanese from its territory

Israel has banned the UN's special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, from the country.

In a joint statement on Monday, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz and Interior Minister Moshe Arbel said she would be prohibited from entering their territory after comments in which she suggested the Hamas attack on 7 October came as a "response to Israel’s oppression."
