Israel 'can no longer accept' Hezbollah on its border, national security official says

Israeli national security adviser Tzachi Hanegbi said on Saturday his country "can no longer accept" Hezbollah's Radwan forces on its northern borders, as clashes in the area grow.

Israeli towns near the border with Lebanon have been evacuated after clashes with Hezbollah started on 8 October.

While the fighting has remained contained to border areas, despite relative intensifications and casualties on both sides, Hanegbi says the Israeli public demands a change in the north.

"If Hizbollah agrees to change it diplomatically, that's good, if not - we will have to act," he said. "We will have to ensure that the situation in the north is different."
