Israel using aid to mask attacks on Gaza hospitals: Report
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has accused Israel of weaponising humanitarian aid while systematically targeting Gaza’s healthcare system.
The medical charity said Israel’s limited flow of supplies into the besieged enclave is being used “as a smokescreen to pretend” the blockade has eased - despite a wave of attacks crippling hospitals and clinics.
“The Israeli authorities’ decision to allow a ridiculously inadequate amount of aid into Gaza after months of an air-tight siege signals their intention to avoid the accusation of starving people in Gaza, while in fact keeping them barely surviving,” said Pascale Coissard, MSF’s emergency coordinator in Khan Younis.
“This plan is a way to instrumentalise aid, making it a tool to further Israeli forces’ military objectives,” he added.
According to MSF, more than 20 health centres in Gaza have either been damaged or shut down - completely or partially - over the past week due to advancing Israeli troops, relentless air raids, and mass evacuation orders.
The organisation warns that what remains of Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure is on the brink of collapse, as medical teams struggle to function under fire.
