Israeli official says attack on rabbi in UAE was 'targeted' and 'antisemitic'

An Israeli official told the Reuters news agency on Sunday that the killing of a Moldovan-Israeli rabbi in the UAE was "targeted" and "antisemitic" because he was a prominent Jew.

The official said that Zvi Kogan was last seen at a kosher supermarker in Dubai on 21 November. His body was discovered on Sunday, and Emirati authorities have arrested three suspects.

The Israeli official told Reuters that Israel does not yet know their identities, but that Israeli intelligence and several agencies are working on the case.

Kogan's body is expected to be flown to Israel on Monday. He was 28 years old, and had previously been in the Israeli forces within the Givati infantry brigade.
