Israeli troops in seized Syrian buffer zone come under fire

Israeli troops operating in a buffer zone in southern Syria came under fire on Friday, the Israeli military said. 

The Israeli soldiers returned fire, the Israeli military said. 

The incident marks the first time Israeli troops came under fire in Syria. 

Israel occupied a wide-swath of a UN buffer zone between the two neighbours after former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was toppled.
