Late night update

The death toll for what have widely been deemed "massacres" in Khan Younis and Gaza City reached 90 today, with more expected as bodies are dug out from rubble and dirt.
Israel said its target was top Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif. The Hamas movement has said that Deif was not killed.

In a statement, the Hamas movement said its political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, held phone calls with officials in Egypt and Qatar, which are mediating ceasefire talks with Israel, as well as other countries in the region to ask for more pressure to be placed on the US and Israel to "stop the massacres".
