Morning Update

Good morning Middle East Eye readers,

Here are the latest updates from the Israeli war on Gaza, now in its 282nd day:

  • 17 people have been killed in overnight Israeli air strikes on Gaza City,  Reuters is reporting. According to Al Jazeera Arabic, 10 people were killed in a strike on a residential block.

  • On Saturday, at least 90 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli attack on Mawasi refugee camp in Khan Younis, and another 22 were killed in an attack on a prayer hall in Gaza City.

  • WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that, in Mawasi, "many remain missing under the rubble".

  • Cities in the occupied West Bank are holding a general strike in response to the attacks.

  • The attack on Mawasi was intended to kill Hamas commander Mohammed Deif, but a Hamas official has reported that Deif is "well".
