Netanyahu responds to mass anti-government protests

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said in response to the mass anti-government protests on Saturday that the "vast majority" of Israelis "do not fall into Hamas' trap".

"They know that we are fully committed to achieving the goals of the war, to eliminating Hamas, to bringing back all our hostages, to ensuring that Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel,” he said at the start of a cabinet meeting earlier today.

An estimated 750,000 Israelis joined mass protests on Saturday against Netanyahu and his government, in one of Israel's biggest-ever demonstrations.
