Qatar condemns Iranian strike on US base as 'unacceptable act'

Qatar’s prime minister has condemned Iran’s recent missile strike on a US military base in the country, describing it as an “unacceptable act” that undermines ongoing diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions.

“The attack on the State of Qatar is an unacceptable act,” Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said on Tuesday. “Especially as Qatar has been actively working to de-escalate the situation through diplomacy.”

He added that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian had expressed regret over the strike during a phone call with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Tehran claimed it targeted the base in “self-defence” following a US military attack on the country over the weekend.
