Senior US official doesn’t believe Israeli escalation with Hezbollah will yield de-escalation

A senior official in the State Department told Reuters that the US doesn't think Israel's escalation to force Hezbollah to reduce tensions will lead to de-escalation.

Axios previously reported that Israel's increased attacks on Lebanon were an attempt to reach "de-escalation through escalation", and several US officials said they agreed on the strategy.
