Trump and Sisi set to chair Gaza peace summit on Monday

US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi are set to co-chair a Gaza peace summit in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday to discuss Trump's proposal to end Israel's genocide in Gaza.

The Egyptian presidency said that the summit aims to "end the war in the Gaza Strip, enhance efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East, and usher in a new era of regional security and stability".

Some 20 heads of state are set to attend, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as well as United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Axios is reporting that leaders or foreign ministers from Germany, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Indonesia are also set to attend. It is currently unclear whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will participate. Hamas is also yet to confirm if any of the group's representatives will attend.
