Two US lawmakers call for independent probe into Aysenur Eygi's killing
US Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal and Senator Patty Murray have sent a letter to the Biden administration, calling for an independent, US-led investigation into the killing of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, who was killed by Israeli fire in the occupied West Bank earlier this month.
"Our hearts are with her family, friends, colleagues, and community, all of whom are devastated by her killing and deserve to know their government has done everything it can to fully understand what led to her killing, pursue accountability for those involved, and seek to ensure this does not happen again," the lawmakers wrote.
"That is why we request an immediate, transparent, credible, and thorough independent U.S. investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), into the killing of Ms. Eygi, which as Secretary Blinken said was 'unprovoked and unjustified'."
Eygi was a resident of Washington state, where both Jayapal and Murray are from.
NEW: Sen. @PattyMurray and I are calling on the admin to conduct an independent, U.S.-led investigation into the killing of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi by the IDF.

We must pursue accountability for those involved to ensure this never happens again.
