UN says 808 aid trucks entered Gaza as Palestinians struggle under Israeli blockade

The United Nations has confirmed that 808 aid trucks carrying food, fuel, and medical supplies entered Gaza on Wednesday, as humanitarian workers rush to assist Palestinians suffering under Israel’s months-long blockade.

“Humanitarian partners are carrying out rapid assessments in newly accessible areas to identify people’s most urgent needs, including water, hygiene, sanitation, and healthcare. They are also stepping up disease surveillance efforts,” the UN office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs (OCHA) said.

Before the ceasefire began on Sunday, Israeli forces had choked off aid deliveries, with as few as 13 trucks allowed in on some days in January. The blockade left civilians without access to basic necessities, worsening the humanitarian disaster.

Throughout the war, Israeli attacks also targeted Palestinian police officers who had been escorting aid convoys, creating chaos as criminal gangs looted supplies and sold them at extortionate prices.
