US, Egypt and Qatar say Israel and Hamas can finalise deal next week

The US, Egypt, and Qatar have issued a joint statement announcing that a deal to halt Israel's war on Gaza is nearly complete and should be finalised without delay.

The statement notes that after months of negotiations, the mediators are ready to present Israel and Hamas with a final proposal, with only implementation details remaining to be resolved.

The mediators urge Israel and Hamas to resume talks in Cairo or Doha next Thursday to finalise the agreement and begin its implementation.

There has been no response from Israel or Hamas yet.

Reportedly, the agreement is expected to proceed in three phases, starting with the release of some civilian captives and a partial withdrawal of Israeli troops from certain areas of Gaza.
