Videos of stripped and bound Palestinian detainees by Israeli soldiers may breach international law, report says

Legal experts say that videos showing Palestinian detainees from Gaza who were stripped, bound, and blindfolded, which were filmed and posted online by Israeli soldiers, could violate international law.

International law says that detainees should not be subjected to unnecessary humiliation or the scrutiny of the public. According to the BBC, there were eight videos openly shared by Israeli soldiers in Gaza since November 2023, showing detainees that were verified.

The Israeli military told the BBC that it terminated the service of one of the reservists that was identified. The military also said that videos like these don't represent its values.

One video that was uploaded on 4 December 2023, displayed a Palestinian detainee, stripped and bleeding, with his hands tied, seated on a chair during an interrogation.
