'What is happening in Syria is relevant to Syria and not connected to Israel'
Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari stated that "what is happening in Syria is relevant to Syria and not connected to Israel."
In an interview with Sky News Arabia, he emphasised Israel's stance as a sovereign state and its commitment to preventing Iran from smuggling weapons to Lebanon and Hezbollah through Syria.
Hagari added: "The Israeli army will act accordingly" against any attempts to smuggle weapons to Lebanon and confirmed that the army is monitoring developments in Syria.
Discussing the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, he noted that the 60-day period aims to ensure the absence of "terror bases" in the region. "It’s a step to make sure Hezbollah doesn’t breach the agreement, as it did in 2006," he said.
Hagari also stressed the responsibility of the Lebanese government and Unifil forces in upholding the ceasefire, saying, "It’s in their interest too."
