Netanyahu threatens 'rioters' with administrative detention

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier on Thursday that the government might deploy military troops to cities where violence has been taking place.

He also said that Israel is considering putting “rioters” under administrative detention, a highly controversial practice in which suspects can be held without charges or trial.

“Our goal is to bring results and to bring them quickly,” Netanyahu said. “We are hearing [police officers'] whispers about fears of inquiry committees. We will give you all the tools. You have the support, don’t be afraid.”
