Qatar cancels public holiday to support Aleppo

The ruler of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, cancelled all celebrations on National Day in solidarity with the people of Aleppo who are facing the worst kind of oppression, abuse, displacement and annihilation, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).

The day which is scheduled to take place on 18 December commemorates the date when Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani unified the tribes of the peninsula under his leadership, in 1878.
