UN: 82 civilians 'shot on the spot'

Syrian pro-government forces have been entering homes in east Aleppo and killing civilians inside, the UN said at a press conference.

Speak from Geneva UN human rights spokesman Rupert Colville described the situation in Aleppo as a "complete meltdown in humanity". He said that of the 82 civilians reported shot, 11 were women and 13 were children.

"Yesterday evening, we received further deeply disturbing reports that numerous bodies were lying on the streets," said Mr Colville.

Colville also added: "The residents were unable to retrieve them due to the intense bombardment and their fear of being shot on sight."

Both the UN and the (ICRC) plead with Syrian and its ally Russia to end the bombardment and grant civilians living in the besieged area safe passage.
