US nuclear-powered submarine arrives in Middle East

The United States Central Command (Centcom), the military command for US forces in the Middle East, has said that a nuclear-powered submarine has arrived in the region, adding to its force posture that Washington has been building up in the region since 7 October.

The US has already dispatched two carrier strike groups, and fighter jets, and has surged its troops to the region as well - Washington has stated it has no intention of sending combat troops to fight alongside Israel in Gaza.

The US has more than 40,000 military personnel based in countries across the Middle East.
