Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas extended his condolences to the family of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, a US-Turkish activist killed by Israeli forces during a protest in the occupied West Bank.
Abbas spoke with Eygi's father, Mehmet Suat Eygi, over the phone, according to Wafa news agency. The president described Eygi as a “brave daughter of Palestine and Turkey” who was "assassinated at the hands of the Israeli occupation,” and an “honest symbol of the solidarity between the brotherly Turkish and Palestinian peoples."
Palestinian leaders are coordinating with US and Turkish authorities to ensure a thorough investigation into Eygi’s death, and efforts are underway to bring the case to the International Criminal Court, Abbas added.
He also announced that Eygi would be posthumously awarded the Medal of the Star of Jerusalem.
Hezbollah's deputy leader has warned that if Israel launches a full-scale war aimed at returning 100,000 displaced people to their homes near Lebanon's border, it would instead displace "hundreds of thousands" more.
In a speech in Beirut, Naim Qassem stated, "We do not seek war as we believe it would be counterproductive. However, if Israel wages war, we will respond, and there will be heavy losses on both sides."
He added, "If they think such a war will enable the return of 100,000 displaced people to their homes, we caution them: be prepared to deal with hundreds of thousands more displaced."
Qassem's comments follow Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s statement that Israel is determined to restore "security" to its northern front and is "preparing for any possible scenario."
The UK government is justifying the continued sale of F-35 fighter jet parts which could end up in Israel through a legal provision that “has never been formally relied on” and one which likely requires parliamentary oversight, 37 MPs said on Friday.
In a letter sent to the foreign, business and defence secretaries, the MPs also said the UK has the autonomy to remove Israel from the list of approved recipients for the F-35.
“The government has admitted it cannot licence the direct transfer of F-35 components to Israel because of the clear risk of serious international humanitarian law violations,” they write.
“But it has not suspended licences to export UK-made F-35 components to Israel as an end user via third-party countries including the United States. There are serious questions that we demand answers to about the legality and practical necessity of such an exemption.”
Last week, the UK announced the suspension of 30 licences for the export of arms to Israel over concerns that the weapons could be used in violation of international humanitarian law in Gaza.

Gaza’s Government Media Office has issued a “humanitarian SOS” to the international community, urging assistance for 2 million internally displaced people in the besieged coastal enclave “before it’s too late.”
The office highlighted the urgent need for aid with the onset of autumn, which could bring lower temperatures and “difficult weather conditions.”
“More than 74 percent of the tents for those displaced are unsafe or unsuitable for use,” it stated
Israeli Channel 13 reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to expand military operations on the northern front.
Netanyahu stated, "We are about to launch a broad and powerful operation on the northern front."
On Sunday, Haaretz reported that Israel’s security cabinet is expected to approve including "the return of residents of the north to their homes" as a goal of the war. This marks the first official mention of northern military objectives in Israel’s stated aims. Previously, objectives had been framed in terms of "protecting the country’s borders and its citizens."

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz accused European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell of being anti-Semitic and hostile towards Israel, claiming Borrell consistently pushes for resolutions and sanctions against the country.
Borrell has faced criticism from Israeli officials, especially for advocating sanctions against far-right ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, accusing them of inciting hatred and committing war crimes.
In response to Katz's accusations, Borrell dismissed the claims, stating, "Accusing those who disagree with a government's position of antisemitism makes no sense." He added, “We should not trivialise words with such a tragic historical context.”
Katz had also criticised Borrell for supporting the creation of a Palestinian state.
The Palestinian Civil Defence reported that at least five people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on Shuhada al-Zeitoun School in Gaza City.
Among the victims were two children and a woman, with ongoing efforts to rescue survivors and recover bodies.
Earlier, it was reported that the Israeli military admitted to the attack.
The UAE's foreign minister and deputy prime minister, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, announced that the country will not participate in any post-war plans for Gaza unless a Palestinian state is established. He made this statement in a post on his X account.
His remarks come amid reports suggesting that the UAE was considering joining an Arab force to temporarily oversee Gaza after the conflict ends.

Hundreds of mourners, waving Turkish and Palestinian flags, gathered on Saturday for the funeral of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, a Turkish-American activist who was killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.
A ceremonial guard carried the 26-year-old's coffin, draped in a Turkish flag.
"The blood of Aysenur Eygi is as sacred as that of every Palestinian martyr, and we will pursue justice for it to the very end. As the Turkish nation, we are fully committed, and as a state, we are fully committed," said parliament speaker Numan Kurtulmus to reporters.
The Jewish Chronicle (JC) has removed a series of articles alleged to contain fabricated quotes from Israeli officials, prompting an investigation by the military.
The outlet, which is the oldest Jewish news source in the UK, had published several articles by a reporter named Elon Perry.
One of the articles claimed the discovery of a document from Gaza, allegedly detailing Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar’s plans to escape with Israeli hostages taken during the 7 October attack, using the Philadelphi Corridor as a route to Iran.
However, the Israeli army stated that it had no knowledge of such a document and several Israeli outlets began to question Perry's identity and professional background.
The left-leaning +972 Magazine questioned his claims of having served as a commando during Operation Entebbe and being a professor at Tel Aviv University for 15 years, as there appear to be no records confirming these assertions.

The Israeli army has issued a new order and told displaced Palestinians in eastern Beit Lahia to immediately evacuate.
Avichay Adraee, the Arabic language spokesperson for the Israeli military, told Palestinians the area is "currently considered a dangerous combat zone."
"The evacuation does not include medical facilities in the area," said Adraee.
The evacuation order includes the areas of al-Manshiya, Sheikh Zayed and the Beit Lahia project.
Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's deputy prime minister and foreign minister, said the Gulf state is "not ready to support the day after the war in Gaza without the establishment of a Palestinian state".

Figures released by the Palestinian health ministry on Saturday revealed that the death toll in the besieged enclave had risen to 41,182 Palestinians.
The ministry also reported that the number of injured in Gaza had climbed to 92,280 since Israel began its war on Gaza following a Hamas-led attack in southern Israel on 7 October.
