Zvi Sukkot, a far-right Israeli politician, stormed a hospital last night where the alleged perpetrator of a car ramming attack was being held.

The ramming attack took place near the illegal Israeli outpost of Givat Asaf, near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. One Israeli soldier was killed, while the Palestinian man who carried out the attack was wounded by Israeli gunfire.

According to a report in Ynet, Sukkot told the perpetrator: "We will make sure that the state of Israel kills you. We will pass a law that will kill you."

A soldier guarding the hospital facility responded: "No, no, it is not allowed," according to Ynet.

An Israeli air strike on a UN school in central Gaza on Wednesday night has killed at least 18 people, included six UN agency for Palestinian refugee (Unrwa) workers.

Unrwa said the attack on al-Jaouni school in the Nuseirat refugee camp on Wednesday amounted to the "highest death toll" in a single incident since war began on 7 October.

According to the agency, around 12,000 displaced Palestinians were sheltering at the school when Israeli forces launched two air attacks on the building.

“No one is safe in Gaza. No one is spared,” Unrwa said in a post on X.

Hello MEE readers. Wednesday marked a day filled with Israeli bombings across the Gaza Strip, including an air strike that hit a school in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

That bombing has killed at least 17 people, including six staffers with the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa) — this is the highest death toll for UN workers in a single incident during this war.

Hamas has said that it is ready to implement an "immediate" ceasefire agreement with Israel based on a previous US proposal, but added that it would agree to such an agreement without any new conditions.

Negotiations have been taking place for months over a ceasefire agreement, however, so far a truce has failed to emerge.

Here's what else happened today during Israel's ongoing war on Gaza:

  • One current and one former US official told MEE that Washington has stepped in behind the scenes to help repatriate the remains of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, the 26-year-old pro-Palestinian activist and dual national killed by Israeli fire at a protest in the occupied West Bank.

  • Two US lawmakers are calling for Washington to launch an independent probe into Eygi's killing.

  • An Israeli strike on the Nasr neighbourhood in western Gaza City has killed at least three people and injured seven others.

  • At least two Palestinians were killed in an Israeli bombing in Tulkarm, in the occupied West Bank.

  • An Israeli strike has killed at least four Palestinians, including a woman and a child, in the Tuffah neighbourhood in Gaza City.

  • An Israeli drone targeted a motorcycle and killed two people in southern Lebanon. Israeli forces also attacked the southern Lebanese twn of Khiam with white phosphorous munitions.

  • Unrwa said that nearly 530,000 children in Gaza have been vaccinated against polio.

  • An Israeli strike on the Abu Chalouf family home in al-Mawasi, southern Gaza killed four people and injured 15 others.

US Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal and Senator Patty Murray have sent a letter to the Biden administration, calling for an independent, US-led investigation into the killing of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, who was killed by Israeli fire in the occupied West Bank earlier this month.

"Our hearts are with her family, friends, colleagues, and community, all of whom are devastated by her killing and deserve to know their government has done everything it can to fully understand what led to her killing, pursue accountability for those involved, and seek to ensure this does not happen again," the lawmakers wrote.

"That is why we request an immediate, transparent, credible, and thorough independent U.S. investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), into the killing of Ms. Eygi, which as Secretary Blinken said was 'unprovoked and unjustified'."

Eygi was a resident of Washington state, where both Jayapal and Murray are from.

One current and one former US official told MEE that Washington has stepped in behind the scenes to help repatriate the remains of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, the 26-year-old pro-Palestinian activist and dual national killed by Israeli fire at a protest in the occupied West Bank.

The US's diplomacy comes as US President Joe Biden faces criticism for his delay to condemn the Israeli military's killing of Eygi last week.

Biden's approach contrasts sharply with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has slammed Israel and jolted diplomatic ties.

On Monday, Turkey’s foreign ministry put out a statement saying that they are "working on the option of bringing the body directly to Turkey by plane to avoid further delays”.
