Israeli forces say they have killed six fighters from Islamic Jihad in the town of Tubas and in a nearby refugee camp in the occupied West Bank in a drone strike.

The military operation in the West Bank, involving hundreds of Israeli soldiers, police and intelligence officers backed by helicopters, drones and armoured vehicles, is now in its second week.

Ten people have been killed over the past week in Tubas, a city in the northern Jordan Valley.

Protest groups planning Saturday’s national demonstration for Palestine have complained of "last-minute" restrictions imposed on them by the Metropolitan Police, which they say amount to an attack on their democratic rights.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrations attended by tens of thousands of people have taken place regularly in London since the start of the war on Gaza last October. For the first time on Saturday, however, organisers plan to march from the centre of the city to the Israeli embassy in Kensington, west London.

But restrictions imposed on organisers this week include pushing back the start time of the protest to 2.30pm, two-and-a-half hours after the midday gathering time already advertised, and the usual start time for previous demonstrations.

Middle East Eye understands that police have also told organisers that participants could be arrested if they march before 2.30pm.

The coalition organising the protest, including the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Friends of Al-Aqsa, Stop the War Coalition and the Muslim Association of Britain, condemned the move and said it was an attack on protesters' right to freedom of assembly.

German police shot dead a gunman in Munich on Thursday in an exchange of fire close to the Israeli consulate.

Police said the man, 18, was an Austrian national who fired shots from an old carbine rifle with a bayonet in Munich's Maxvorstadt district. He was killed in a shootout with five officers.

The incident took place on the anniversary of the 1972 attack at the Munich Olympics in which Palestinian fighters killed 11 Israeli athletes. "There may be a connection between the two," Bavarian state premier Markus Soeder said, adding that the link was being investigated.

Israel's foreign ministry said its Munich consulate was closed on Thursday for a commemoration of the 1972 Olympics massacre, and that none of its staff were injured in the incident.

"The protection of Israeli facilities has top priority," German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser said.

Josef Schuster, head of Germany's Central Council for Jews, said: "We don't know all the background yet. What we do know leaves us in shock."

The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) has said that his arrest warrant request for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is necessary to demonstrate the court is "not just an instrument of power".

In May, Karim Khan said he had filed an application for the arrest of Israeli and Hamas leaders for their roles in alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity during Israel's war on Gaza and the 7 October Hamas-led attack on southern Israel.

The request for the warrants is yet to receive approval by the ICC judges.

Khan told the BBC’s Nick Robinson that he had been warned by multiple states and authorities that the move would prove to be an “atomic bomb”, but that it was necessary to show that all nations will be held to the same standard in relation to alleged war crimes.

“You can't have one approach for countries where there's support, whether it's Nato support, European support [and] powerful countries behind you, and a different approach where you have clear jurisdiction,"” Khan told Robinson.

Armed Israeli settlers have raided several homes in the village of Bireen, southeast of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, according to Wafa news agency.

Fareed Burqan, the head of the Bireen village council, told Wafa that armed settlers, protected by Israeli soldiers, stormed the village on Thursday and raided homes belonging to the al-Azzam and Burqan families.

The settlers reportedly searched the homes, stole money and destroyed residents' belongings, including by vandalising an electronic device belonging to a child with special needs.

The raid left the affected families with financial losses and emotional trauma, Wafa reported.

A young, apparently lifeless girl lies on a hospital bed at the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, her pink roller skate still strapped to her foot.

Footage circulating on social media showed Tala Abu Ajwa, 10, covered in blood as doctors desperately tried to save her on Tuesday.

Moments before, she had been playing with her neighbours outside their residential building in central Gaza City.

"She insisted on going down to play with her friends. She kept nagging, saying that she would not be late. When her mother refused out of fear for her safety, given the situation, she had her friend’s mother call to convince her to let her join them," Tala’s father, Hussam, told Middle East Eye.

“At around 5pm, her mother finally gave in to her pleas and allowed her to play downstairs. She left the apartment, and just a couple of minutes later we heard two massive explosions. The first thing that came to my mind was that Tala was not home, so I rushed downstairs to find her.”

video depicting Albania's chief rabbi, Yoel Kaplan, celebrating the destruction in Gaza and leading Israeli troops in prayer has prompted an angry backlash in the country.

Kaplan, who is also an Israeli officer, returned to Israel after 7 October following the Hamas assault on the south, which resulted in nearly 1,200 Israeli nationals and foreigners being killed and 251 people being captured and taken back to Gaza.

Since then, more than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israel and over 94,000 wounded.

The video featuring Kaplan in Gaza was posted by a Jewish community website on Monday, but it is not exactly clear when it was taken.

Benjamin Netanyahu's office has said that the Israeli prime minister "mistakenly" displayed a map showing Western Sahara as separate to Morocco during a news conference earlier this week.

Netanyahu showed a map of the Middle East and North Africa region during a press conference on Monday, in which he explained to reporters why he believed Israel must control the Philadelphi Corridor - the buffer zone between the Gaza Strip and Egypt

The map labelled both Morocco and Western Sahara, sparking a backlash on Moroccan social media. Rabat has claimed sovereignty over the disputed territory since 1975.

"On the 'Atlas' map presented during the Prime Minister's statement today, the name 'Western Sahara' was mistakenly displayed in the territory of Morocco," Netanyahu's office said in a statement published on X.

Israeli forces have arrested 16 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank since last night said the Palestinian Prisoners' Society, which tracks daily arrests.

Among those detained are a girl, a prominent journalist, and several former prisoners, the group reported.

The arrests took place in the governorates of Ramallah, Hebron, Nablus, Jericho, and Jerusalem. The group also noted that Israeli forces assaulted and threatened the families of those detained during the raids.

In addition to the arrests, at least 39 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the latest assault on the West Bank.

Al-Jazeera reports that Israeli soldiers have once again stormed the Tulkarm refugee camp after a brief withdrawal earlier on Thursday.

Ongoing fighting has been reported in the area.

Palestinians resisted the advance of bulldozers and military vehicles on the outskirts of the camp, leading to armed clashes.

According to the Palestinian Wafa news agency, the Israeli army entered al-Akasha neighbourhood, deployed snipers, and surrounded the Martyr Thabet Governmental Hospital. They also imposed a curfew near the Al-Shweika roundabout, forcing shops to close.

The Israeli military has transformed Hebron and nearby towns in the southern occupied West Bank into what resembles a “large prison,” said the city's mayor, Taysir Abu Sneineh.

Quoted by Anadolu Agency, Abu Sneineh stated that the Israeli army has “turned the city into something akin to a large prison and imposed a policy of collective punishment”. Military checkpoints and iron gates have increased, and roads and entrances to cities and towns across the West Bank have been closed as Israel tightens its stranglehold on the besieged city.

Medical teams have struggled to transport patients, often needing to transfer them between vehicles at checkpoints. The mayor also noted that basic services, such as waste collection, have been disrupted due to the closures.

“People want to live with their rights in security and safety; removing those rights could lead to an explosion,” Abu Sneineh warned.

Russian President Vladimir Putin told a meeting of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on Thursday that the current escalation between Israel and the Palestinians is due to the failure to achieve a two-state solution, and the US's biased position was a significant stumbling block to achieving peace in the region, Al-Jazeera Arabic reported.
