At least six people were killed by Israeli forces after their home was attacked in Camp 1, Nuseirat, in the central Gaza Strip, said the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) on Monday.

“The ongoing nightmare of more than 9 months of relentless night bombings and explosions continues,” the PRCS wrote on X.

At least 320 Palestinians have been killed or wounded and brought to hospitals throughout the besieged enclave, the Government Media Office in Gaza reported.

Healthcare officials said that many of the casualties suffered third-degree burns inflicted by internationally banned weapons, such as thermal bombs.

“These weapons cause chemical substances to interact with the skin, leading to direct chemical corrosion of tissues in the bodies of the victims. They also cause severe pain,” the statement said.

The office noted that many of those injured by such weapons die within a day, and it accused the US of being fully responsible for arming Israel, leading to the “massacres” committed by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip.

Senior US lawmakers have said that achieving a deal to normalise ties between Israel and Saudi Arabia is slipping out of Washington's grasp as Israel’s war on Gaza drags on and the American presidential election approaches.

“Ratification of a new security treaty with the United States and the Saudis, in an environment this close to an election, in an environment this charged, I think would be exceptionally difficult,” Democratic Senator Chris Coons, a key Biden ally, told Jewish Insider.

The Biden administration is trying to cajole Israel into a ceasefire with Hamas by holding out the promise of a normalisation agreement with Saudi Arabia.

However, Riyadh wants concrete steps towards a two-state solution but is also in talks with the US for a series of diplomatic deals, including an agreement on nuclear energy, a security pledge, and expedited arms deals, former US officials confirmed to MEE.

The UK’s Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has released its third report in the last 24 hours regarding an alleged Houthi attack on a vessel near Yemen. This latest report refers to an incident that took place several days ago.

Two explosions were reported near the vessel about an hour apart, but they inflicted no damage and the crew is reported safe.

It could take up to "fifteen years" to clear the roughly 40 million tonnes of rubble created by Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip, said the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (Unrwa).

This would require over 100 trucks and cost more than $500m, but is an essential effort because debris created by war can contain unexploded bombs and “harmful substances”, said Unrwa.

In response to a petition from female soldiers requesting the opportunity to serve in all army units, some of which are currently restricted to men, Israel has issued a statement.

The army explained that the training programme for female soldiers in the Armored Corps, which was scheduled to start this year, has not yet commenced. This delay is partly due to a shortage of tanks caused by the Gaza conflict, as reported by the Israeli daily Haaretz.

The army described the training programme as "experimental" and cited "war-related limitations", including the unavailability of many tanks and a shortage of ammunition, as reasons for the postponement.

The Israeli army said that the training for female soldiers is now set to begin in November 2025.

Former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn and four other independent MPs have warned Labour against maintaining the UK's objection to the International Criminal Court's (ICC) application seeking an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In a letter issued on Monday to Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Corbyn emphasised the UK's obligations to Palestinians under international law.

These obligations, listed by the group of MPs, include ceasing arms sales to Israel, restoring funding to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa), dropping any objection to the ICC's case against Netanyahu, recognising a Palestinian state and sanctioning Israelis involved in the war on Gaza, among other demands.

"Gaza's Ministry of Health holds the death toll since October at 38,000. However, a study published in the journal The Lancet estimates that even a conservative measure of the death toll in Gaza could exceed 186,000," the letter reads.

The European Union has sanctioned Israeli far-right activists Bentzi Gopstein and Baruch Marzel, according to a report by Israeli journalist, Barak Ravid.

Gopstein, a close associate of Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir, was sanctioned for leading the extremist organisation Lehava. Marzel faced sanctions for advocating the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

Additionally, the European Union announced sanctions on the Tzav 9 organisation for obstructing aid trucks to Gaza.

Sanctions were also imposed on settlers Zvi Bar Yosef, Moshe Sharvit, and Isaschar Manne, as well as on the illegal outposts "Moshe's Farm" and "Zvi's Farm" due to their involvement in violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

"The government of Israel is repeatedly demonstrating to the world – this time in the designated safe area of al-Mawasi, and yesterday in a school housing civilians in Nuseirat – that it is willing to kill innocent men, women, and children to achieve its goals,” the British-headquartered charity Islamic Relief said on Monday.

"The brutal killing and wounding of hundreds of civilians in Gaza over the last few days sets a terrifying precedent for a nation-state. The siege and killing in Gaza must end,” it added.

The international charity demanded an end to civilian casualties and called for aid to be allowed to flow back into the enclave in quantities sufficient to halt the spreading of famine.

The European Council has approved sanctions against five Israeli individuals and three entities over serious and systematic human rights abuses against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

It includes Israeli settler Moshe Sharvit and his "Moshe’s Farm" in the Jordan Valley, over violence directed towards Palestinian residents and shepherds.

Settler Zvi Bar Yosef was also named, as well as his illegal outpost "Zvi's Farm" in the West Bank, following repeated attacks against Palestinian villagers.

Baruch Marzel, who has called for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, Ben-Zion "Bentzi" Gopstein, founder and leader of far-right group Lehava, and Isaschar Manne, founder of the illegal Manne Farm outpost in Hebron, were also among those sanctioned.

In addition, the group Tzav 9, which was founded in January and regularly blocks humanitarian aid trucks due for Gaza, was also listed.

Those sanctioned will have their assets frozen within the EU, and any direct or indirect funds to them prohibited. They will also be banned from travelling in and out of the EU.

New incidents of abuse suffered by Gaza detainees at the hands of Israeli forces have come to light following a news conference held on Monday by the Commission of Detainees Affairs, a Palestinian prisoner's organisation.

Speakers at the press conference in Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank, provided updates on the conditions faced by Palestinians taken from Gaza and held in Israeli custody.

Khaled Mhajne, the commission’s lawyer, reported on his conversation with Mohammed Arab, Al Araby TV’s Gaza correspondent, who was detained by Israeli forces during their raid on Gaza’s al-Shifa hospital on 18 March.

“Mohammed Arab, the journalist with Al Araby TV, informed me of cases of rape of inmates as well as torture in front of everyone,” Mhajne said.

Mhajne spoke to Arab in Israel’s Ofer prison in the West Bank, where he was recently transferred along with some prisoners from the notorious Sde Teiman detention centre in Israel's Negev desert.

Israeli forces detained at least 15 Palestinians from the occupied West Bank overnight, including at least one woman, Wafa news agency reported.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society and the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission said in a joint statement that Israeli raids were carried out in Hebron, Nablus, Ramallah, Jenin and Tulkarm.

Israeli forces reportedly threatened detainees and their families, and damaged their homes during the arrests.

The statement said that more than 9,670 Palestinians had been detained in the West Bank since 7 October.

Britain will not withdraw its objection to the International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor's application for arrest warrants targeting Israeli Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu and his defence minister, Yoav Gallant, according to an Israeli news outlet.

The newspaper Maariv said British Foreign Secretary David Lammy had given assurances that the UK will maintain its objection to the application that was initially raised by the Conservative government in Downing Street.

Netanyahu and Gallant are accused of crimes against humanity and war crimes by ICC prosecutor Karim Khan.

The Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar, its military wing's commander-in-chief Mohammed Diab Ibrahim al-Masri, better known as Mohammed Deif, and its political leader Ismail Haniyeh were also subject to arrest warrant applications.

The applications must be approved by a panel of ICC judges and it is at this stage that the UK has lodged its objection.

At least 38,664 Palestinians have been killed and 89,097 wounded by Israel's war on Gaza since 7 October, the Palestinian health ministry said on Monday.

At least 80 Palestinians were killed and 216 wounded by Israeli forces in the past 24 hours, the ministry added.
