Gaza live: Dozens killed and wounded in Israeli strikes on Gaza and Yemen
Live Updates
Hamas has issued a statement on Telegram calling on Palestinians in the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem to hold "massive demonstrations" in response to the Israeli attack on Mawasi.
"We call on the masses of our Palestinian people in the West Bank and Jerusalem to go out in massive demonstrations against the criminal Zionist occupation and terrorist settlers who are wreaking havoc in villages and cities, and to engage in clashes in defence of our land and our right to freedom and independence," the statement read.
At least 71 people were confirmed killed in an Israeli assault on people sheltering in Mawasi in Khan Younis, an area the Israeli military had designated a "safe zone".
The international NGO Action Aid has issued a statement condemning the Israeli attack on displaced people in Mawasi, in the south of Gaza.
"We are utterly horrified and appalled by the devastating attack on the al-Mawasi area near Khan Younis and extremely concerned about the safety of our staff and partners in the area, some of whom we have not yet been able to make contact with," the NGO said.
"This is an area that had been designated a safe humanitarian zone, yet at least 71 people have been brutally slaughtered there today and hundreds injured, once again making it perfectly clear that absolutely nowhere is safe in Gaza.
"As yet more Palestinians mourn their loved ones or attempt to seek medical help from a health system that is overwhelmed and on its knees, we plea - yet again - for this nightmare to come to an end and for a permanent ceasefire, now," the group said.
The Palestinian envoy to the UK, Husam Zumlot, has said in a post on X that Israel's attack on Mawasi is its "response to the ICJ [International Court of Justice] ruling 4 months ago, to the UNSC [Security Council] more than a month ago and to the ongoing ceasefire talks".
More than 70 people are confirmed killed after Israeli air strikes targeted tents where displaced people were sheltering in Mawasi, a designated "safe zone" in Khan Younis.
"[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu wants permanent aggression and permanent occupation," Zumlot said.

Egypt's Foreign Ministry has issued a statement condemning the Israeli attack on displaced people in Mawasi.
It added that “ongoing violations against the rights of Palestinian citizens” add serious “complications” to achieving a ceasefire deal.
The Palestinian foreign ministry has issued a statement condemning the Israeli "massacres" in Gaza's Mawasi and Shati refugee camps.
Seventy-one people were killed in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis, where displaced people had been sheltering after it had declared a "safe zone" by the Israeli military.
Seventeen more people were confirmed killed by an Israeli attack on a prayer hall in Shati, near Gaza City.
In a post on X, the ministry called on "the states supporting Israel to awaken their conscience and morals, and to stop obstructing international efforts to end the genocidal war" in Gaza.

The Gaza government media office has accused Israel of spreading "fake news, lies and rumours" about the Mawasi attack targeting senior Palestinian officials "in order to divert attention from the horrific crime in al-Mawasi, Khan Younis".
The Israeli military has claimed that the attack, which killed over 71 people, was intended to target Hamas military official Mohammed Deif.
But the media office rejected the claim as a "failed attempt to justify the horrific massacre".
"The Israeli occupation has been practising a policy of deception repeatedly since the beginning of the war of genocide, in an attempt to cover up its failure and the crimes it commits against civilians and displaced persons, especially children and women," it said.
Jordan's foreign ministry has condemned Israel's attack on Mawasi.
It issued a statement condemning the attack on “displaced persons’ tents in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip, in an area that Israel had previously classified as safe, which resulted in the death and injury of dozens of Palestinians”.
The death toll from an Israeli attack on a prayer hall in Shati refugee camp in Gaza City has risen from 15 to 17.

Following the Israeli attack on Mawasi, the British charity Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) has called for the UK government to "act urgently" to halt arms sales to Israel.
The charity said in a statement that, in the aftermath of Israeli strikes on displaced people sheltering in Mawasi, they had been forced to temporarily evacuate one of its medical points near the area.
"Al-Mawasi is heavily crowded and has a big market where people move around to try and secure their basic needs," MAP's Mohammed Al Khatib said.
The charity said it has been "warning for months that there is no safe place for anyone in Gaza amid Israel's military bombardment that ICJ [International Court of Justice] has concluded may amount to genocide".
Hezbollah has reported that Lebanese politician Musa Muhammad Suleiman was killed in an Israeli air strike on the al-Khardali area of southern Lebanon.
Suleiman was a member of the Amal Movement, a Lebanese Shia political party allied with Hezbollah.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) armed group has condemned Israel's "horrific massacre" in Mawasi, saying that Israeli claims that the attack was targeting Hamas leaders "proves its premeditated intention to commit this crime".
"This crime confirms that the occupation has disregarded all international norms and covenants," the PIJ said in a statement, adding that the attack constitutes "an insistence on continuing the war of extermination against our people".
According to Gaza's health ministry, more than 70 people have been killed and 289 injured in a series of Israeli air strikes on the Mawasi refugee camp, which was designated a "safe zone" by Israeli forces.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has said its emergency teams dealt with 102 injuries and recovered 23 bodies in the aftermath of the Israeli attack on tents sheltering displaced Palestinians in Mawasi.
In a statement on X, the group said that 70 injured people and 21 bodies were taken to the PRCS's Al-Quds Field Hospital, while another 22 injuries were transferred to al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younis.

The official spokesperson for Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has said the US administration is responsible for the Israeli attack on Mawasi on Saturday. Over 70 people, including women and children, are thought to have been killed in the strike.
"The US administration bears the responsibility for this heinous massacre, which claimed the lives of hundreds of our children, women, and elderly," Nabil Abu Rudeineh said in a statement.
He added that the administration's continued provision of financial and military support to Israel violates "international legitimacy resolutions" and emboldens the country to "commit bloody massacres against our people every day".
Abu Rudeineh called on the UN Security Council "to intervene immediately to stop these bloody massacres and compel the occupation authorities to immediately cease all these actions that violate all international legitimacy resolutions".
At least 15 Palestinians have been killed in an Israeli strike on a prayer hall in the Shati refugee camp in western Gaza City, Wafa news agency is reporting, citing local sources.
The prayer hall was targeted as people gathered to perform noon prayers.
A spokesperson for the civil defence, Mahmoud Basal, told Al Jazeera that at least 10 bodies and 20 injured people have arrived at the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City.
Health officials at Nasser Medical Complex said on Saturday that the hospital was overwhelmed following the influx of casualties from Mawasi, and is no longer able to function.
Doctors at the complex, previously one of the strip's biggest functioning hospitals, have said they cannot provide medical care due to the mounting casualties and acute shortages of medical supplies.
