Good morning, Middle East Eye readers,

Here are some of the latest updates on Israel's war on Gaza:

  • Gaza officials warn that Israel’s blockade is depriving the population of fuel, making it nearly impossible to treat sewage or provide clean water.

  • Israeli forces shot a 20-year-old Palestinian woman in the head and a 14-year-old boy in the foot while carrying out yet more violent raids across the occupied West Bank.

  • Five European nations on the UN Security Council insist that post-war Gaza must not be ruled by Hamas but also reject any attempt to forcibly displace its Palestinian population.

  • US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met Israeli minister Bezalel Smotrich, strengthening financial and trade ties with Israel despite Smotrich’s far-right extremism, which had previously made him unwelcome in Washington.
