UK police on Saturday arrested 86 protesters who were demanding the reversal of a ban on the pro-Palestine direct action group, Palestine Action.
UK police on Saturday arrested more than 60 protesters who were demanding the reversal of a ban on the pro-Palestine direct action group, Palestine Action.
The government proscribed the activist group under anti-terror laws on 4 July, after the group broke into RAF Brize Norton earlier this month and spray-painted two planes that they said were “used for military operations in Gaza and across the Middle East."
In response, the campaign group Defend Our Juries (DOJ) announced rallies on Saturday in several UK cities to protest the ban and Israel’s war on Gaza.
DOJ said 86 people had been arrested across the UK in total, with other protests held in Wales and Northern Ireland.

The death toll from Israeli attacks on Gaza since dawn has risen to 110, according to Al Jazeera, citing medical sources.
At least 34 Palestinians were killed while trying to get aid distributed by the US-Israeli Gaza Humanitarian Foundation in Rafah.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has summoned far-right Finance Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to discuss the possible ceasefire deal in Gaza, according to Israel’s Channel 12.
The ministers are the most prominent opposers of a ceasefire deal that would secure the release of the captives and the end of the Gaza war.
Israel's national broadcaster Kan reported that Netanyahu believes that Ben Gvir’s far-right Otzma Yehudit party may leave the government if a permanent ceasefire is reached.
The prime minister is aiming to maintain his coalition’s stability by convincing the ministers that a deal would not leave Hamas in power in Gaza, the report said.
Israeli weapons company Rafael has released a promotional video showing its drone system, Firefly, killing a person in Gaza.
The video shows the Firefly kamikaze drone hovering over a neighbourhood, identifying a person walking down the street alone before targeting him.
"We mark two years since SPIKE FIREFLY was first operationally deployed-ushering in a new era of precision for the tactical fighting forces," the Rafael said in a post on X.
Open-source analyst Anno Nemo geolocated the footage to the Al-Tawam area of northern Gaza.
"Based on 2 Google Earth satellite images the video appears to have been taken between 4 June 2024 and 1 December 2024," Anno Nemo said, adding that possible changes are visible in the area on Sentinel satellite imagery from November 2024.

Hamas negotiators are increasingly sceptical that a Gaza ceasefire agreement with Israel could be reached in the current round of talks in Doha, Middle East Eye has learned.
Sources close to Palestinian negotiators said talks remain deadlocked over at least two of four key issues.
The first is the extent of the proposed Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip during the 60-day truce. The second is the method of aid distribution.
The United States has reportedly proposed postponing discussions on these two points and instead focusing on the names of Palestinian prisoners to be released by Israel in exchange for the remaining Israeli captives.
However, Palestinian negotiators believe this approach is a trap.

Israel plans to build 2,339 settlement units across the occupied West Bank, Al Jazeera reported, citing a statement by the Palestine Liberation Organisation’s National Office for the Defence of Land and Resistance of Settlement.
The report said 1,352 of the units will be constructed in Qalqilya, 430 units in northeast Ramallah and northwest of the occupied East Jerusalem, 407 units in Bethlehem, and 150 units in the west of Ramallah.
The plan also includes the establishment of the “Samaria National Park” in the Palestinian town of Sebastia, north of Nablus.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled in July 2024 that Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law.
A 20-year-old Palestinian-American man has been killed in an Israeli settler attack in the occupied West Bank, his family said on Saturday, demanding that Washington launch a probe into his death.
Saif al-Din Kamil Abdul Karim Musalat was beaten to death on Friday in Sinjil, a village north of Ramallah, the Palestinian health ministry said.
Musalat's family said his death was "an unimaginable nightmare and injustice that no family should ever have to face."
"We demand the US State Department lead an immediate investigation and hold the Israeli settlers who killed Saif accountable for their crimes. We demand justice."
The US State Department on Saturday confirmed to AFP that an American citizen had died in the West Bank and offered its "sincerest condolences to the family and loved ones on their loss".
The department "has no higher priority than the safety and security of US citizens overseas," a spokesperson said, referring "questions on any investigation to the Government of Israel."
Israeli settlers beat a Palestinian-American man to death and fatally shot another during a coordinated assault on villagers in the occupied West Bank on Friday.
Saif al-Din Musalat, 23, died after being "severely beaten across various parts of his body", the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.
Witnesses told Middle East Eye that settlers struck him in the head, abdomen and back.
While he was critically wounded, settlers held him and blocked an ambulance from reaching him for 40 minutes. He died en route to hospital.
Musalat was an American citizen. His funeral was postponed to allow his father to arrive from the United States.

More than 40 protesters holding placards in support of direct action group Palestine Action have been arrested in central London by the Metropolitan Police.
The protesters held up placards reading: “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action."
This marks the second week running that pro-Palestine Action protesters have been arrested for showing support for the group.
The government passed legislation banning Palestine Action as a proscribed group on 4 July, making membership of and support for the group a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
According to the sources, Israel wants to keep forces in large parts of the Gaza Strip during the 60-day truce.
This includes most of Rafah governorate and a "buffer zone" up to three kilometres deep along Gaza's eastern and northern boundary with Israel.
Hamas is pushing for Israel to stick to the withdrawal lines agreed in the January truce, which Israel broke in March.
On the issue of aid, Israeli negotiators are insisting that the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) remain one of the main distributor of food, despite widespread international condemnation.
