A Palestinian detainee has died in Israeli custody following months of medical neglect, the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society are reporting.

According to the groups, 60-year-old Mohyee al-Din Fahmi Najem suffered from chronic illnesses and was denied proper medical treatment during his detention.

The father of six had spent nearly two decades in Israeli prisons and was last detained on 8 August 2023, when he was placed in administrative detention without charge or trial.

The commission and the prisoners' society said the Israeli prison authorities had committed the "compound crime" of arbitrary detention and medical negligence.

They reported that Najem's health had deteriorated dramatically in the last few months, noting that he was unable to walk without assistance during a prison visit in March. He was not informed of a diagnosis from subsequent medical examinations.

Najem is the 66th detainee to have died since October 2023.

A "crater" was left near Israel's main international airport after the army said it attempted to intercept a missile launched from Yemen.

In a video from the scene near Ben Gurion Airport, Yair Hezroni, the police's central district chief, pointed to the "missile impact".

"You can see the area just behind us: a crater was formed here, several dozen metres wide and several dozen metres deep," he said.

Yemen's Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack, which caused no casualties.

The Houthis have launched numerous attacks on Israel in support of the Palestinians since the beginning of Israel's war on Gaza in October 2023.

Over 35,000 children under the age of five in Gaza face imminent death by starvation, the enclave's Government Media Office said in a statement.

It added that over 70,000 children across the territory are being hospitalised due to severe malnutrition amid Israel's total blockade on the strip.

“At a time when 1.1 million children daily lack the minimum nutritional requirements for survival, this crime is being perpetrated by the ‘Israeli’ occupation using starvation as a weapon, amid shameful international silence,” the statement said.

In a post on X, Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesperson defended the country's mediation efforts, stating: "Qatar's principled foreign policy aligns with its role as a credible and impartial mediator."

The Gulf nation emphasised its ongoing coordination with Egypt and the US to secure a ceasefire, deliver humanitarian aid, and pursue lasting peace based on "justice and humanity."

The response came after Netanyahu's office accused Qatar of "double talk" and demanded it choose between "civilization" and "Hamas barbarism."

The Hind Rajab Foundation has revealed the identity of the Israeli military unit and commander allegedly responsible for killing the six-year-old Palestinian girl, her family, and two medics in Gaza last January.

According to the foundation's year-long investigation, an Israeli tank unit under the commander's orders attacked the family's civilian vehicle, then destroyed a Red Crescent ambulance sent to rescue Hind.

"We will pursue every officer involved – from those who gave orders to those who covered it up," the group stated, calling for ICC arrest warrants.

On 29 January 2024, Hind survived the initial tank strike that killed her relatives, pleading via phone with dispatchers: "I'm so scared...please come." The ambulance responding to her call was similarly hit, killing both paramedics instantly.
