US ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee attacked European states on social media while praising three Arab states that called on Hamas to disarm.

“France, UK, Ireland & Europe blast Israel but Saudi, Egypt & even Hamas helper Qatar rightly puts pressure on Hamas,” Huckabee posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday.

Huckabee’s statement comes nearly a week after French President Emmanuel Macron announced France would recognise a Palestinian state in September.

It also comes a day after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hinged British recognition of a Palestinian state on Israel’s refusal to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stating Britain would recognise a Palestinian state in September if Israel did not agree to a ceasefire and take “substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza”.

Not since 7 October 2023 has support for Israel among Americans been this low.

In a dramatic 10 percentage point drop since a poll from September 2024, only 32 percent of Americans said they support Israel's war on Gaza, new Gallup polling results released on Tuesday showed.

As of July 2025, 60 percent of Americans said they disapprove of Israel's military action, and 52 percent said they see Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a negative light - a significant shift from a year and a half ago.

Netanyahu has also never been viewed this unfavourably in any of its previous polling stretching back to the 1990s, Gallup said, citing a "continued deterioration in his image".

The International Criminal Court has an outstanding arrest warrant for Netanyahu for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

The United Nations office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs (Ocha) said on Wednesday that tactical pauses do not allow for the continuous flow of humanitarian aid required to meet the immense needs levels in Gaza.

Israel launched daily pauses in its military operations in some parts of the Gaza Strip this week to enable UN agencies and other aid groups to distribute food in the densely populated territory of more than two million.

Ocha warned that four days into Israel's tactical pauses, deaths from hunger and malnutrition were still occurring, as were casualties among those seeking aid.

"Desperate, hungry people" continue to offload the small amounts of aid from the trucks that are able to exit the crossings, it said in a statement.

Ocha also said fuel deliveries were nowhere near what is needed to keep health, emergency, water, and telecommunications services running in the besieged Palestinian territory.

"Current fuel entries are insufficient to meet life-saving critical needs and represent a drop in the ocean," it also added in a statement.

"While the UN and its partners are taking advantage of any opportunity to support people in need during the unilateral tactical pauses, the conditions for the delivery of aid and supplies are far from sufficient," the agency continued.

"For example, for UN drivers to access the Kerem Shalom crossing - a fenced-off area - Israeli authorities must approve the mission, provide a safe route through which to travel, provide multiple 'green lights' on movement, as well as a pause in bombing, and, ultimately, open the iron gates to allow them to enter."

Spanish Defence Minister Margarita Robles said 13 sick children and their families from Gaza will be flown to Spain for medical care, multiple news outlets reported on Wednesday.

“The situation in Gaza is absolutely terrible," he said. "The level of cruelty shown by [Israeli Prime Minister] Netanyahu is absolutely unacceptable, and I believe the international community must respond".

Israeli settlers on Wednesday ransacked and robbed Palestinian homes near Bethlehem, Wafa news agency reported.

A group of settlers attacked the homes of Nassar Rashaida and his sons and stole their belongings, including solar panels and protective roof panels in Wadi Ubayyan, near Kisan village, local sources told Wafa.

Settlers had told the family to leave voluntarily or they would be forcefully evicted. Such actions are illegal under international law.

The settlers then proceeded to destroy and vandalise the homes.

The director general of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said the United Nations' specialised agency for health has sent 10 trucks of medical supplies into Gaza from Egypt.

“WHO has moved 10 trucks from Al-Arish in Egypt to the Kerem Shalom crossing for Gaza, carrying essential medicines, laboratory and water testing supplies,” Ghebreyesus said, adding more aid is on the way.

“The health needs in Gaza are immense. A continuous flow of medical supplies is critical.”

Ghebreyesus called on Israel to allow unimpeded humanitarian access.

“We continue to call for sustained, safe and unhindered access for medical aid into and across Gaza and for a ceasefire,” he said.

An Egyptian activist who chained shut the gates of Egypt’s embassy in The Hague has told Middle East Eye that he did so in protest against Cairo’s “complicity” in Israel's genocide in Gaza.

Last week, Anas Habib filmed himself attaching a bicycle lock around the gates of the embassy in the Netherlands, as a symbolic gesture in solidarity with Palestinians besieged by Israel and Egypt in Gaza.

He went on to do the same act at the Jordanian embassy in response to the kingdom’s response to Israel’s war.

The action went viral on Arabic social media, prompting similar demonstrations in other countries, including Turkey and the UK, where activists also chained shut the gates of Egyptian embassies.

“I know for 100 percent sure that the Egyptian regime is complicit in the genocide,” Habib told MEE’s live show on Tuesday. “This is just not an accusation, it's a fact.”

He said that in the first two months of Israel’s war, in late 2023, before Israeli forces had occupied the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt, Cairo had the ability to allow aid and food into the enclave but refused to do so.

“After it got occupied by the [Israeli military], now they are saying: 'No, it's closed',” said Habib.

He added that the late former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi’s role in ending a previous Israeli war on Gaza in 2012 showed what the country was capable of achieving.

Belgian authorities have referred an investigation into two Israelis accused of war crimes in Gaza to the International Criminal Court (ICC), the federal prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday.

According to AFP, the two men identified as soldiers by the pro-Palestinian Belgian NGO Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) were detained on 18 July at the Tomorrowland music festival near Antwerp.

Complaints filed by HRF led to their detention and questioning by Belgian police. Both Israelis were later released without conditions, according to the federal prosecutor.

On Wednesday, the prosecutor said that after analysing the two complaints, the cases have been transferred to the ICC in The Hague, adding that the court is "already conducting an investigation into potential serious violations of international humanitarian law committed in the Palestinian territories".

On 21 July the prosecutor had said that it "might have jurisdiction" to prosecute the two Israelis, citing a legal provision that grants Belgian courts universal jurisdiction over war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.

The HRF accuses the two Israeli soldiers of arbitrarily detaining civilians in Gaza and using "torture and human shields".

Activists accusing Egypt of refusing to let aid into the Gaza Strip amid a mounting starvation crisis in the Israeli-blockaded territory have launched protests at Egyptian embassies around the world.

From SwedenIrelandthe UKSpain and Finland to South AfricaLibya and Turkey, a string of protests has erupted worldwide demanding Cairo “break the siege” by opening the Rafah crossing to allow aid into the besieged Palestinian enclave.

The movement began on 21 July, when 27-year-old Egyptian activist and content creator Anas Habib chained shut the entrance to the Egyptian embassy in the Netherlands in a solo protest.

Live-streaming the event, he said that if Egypt keeps the Rafah crossing closed, then its embassies will remain closed "until Gaza opens”.

"For two years, they've participated in their [Palestinians'] killing and starvation... lying to the poor people who live there, telling them: 'No, the crossing is closed from the [Israeli] side, not from ours," he said in his video

Two days later, new protesters locked the same embassy again.

Soon after, activists around the world followed suit, using metal chains and locks at the entrances of Egyptian embassies.

An Israeli court has released to house arrest a settler suspected of killing a Palestinian activist in the occupied West Bank on Monday.

Yinon Levi, a settler sanctioned by the US for violent attacks against Palestinians, is facing charges of manslaughter and unlawful use of a firearm in connection with the death of Awdah Hathaleen.

Hathaleen, 31, was an English teacher and a peaceful anti-settlement activist. He also worked on the production team of the Academy Award-winning documentary No Other Land.

The Magistrate's Court declined to keep Levi in custody, despite video evidence showing him firing at an unarmed Palestinian crowd in the hamlet of Umm al-Khair, in Masafer Yatta near Hebron, where Hathaleen was killed.

The court’s decision was not challenged by the police, who are investigating Levi for Hathaleen’s killing. The police also made the unusual decision to allow the suspect to meet with his family prior to the hearing, according to Haaretz.
