A four-year-old girl has died from severe malnutrition and hunger in the Gaza Strip, according to Wafa news agency.

Medics at al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah confirmed that the girl, identified as Razan Abu Zaher, died on Sunday due to complications arising from acute malnutrition.

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (Unrwa) has warned of a sharp rise in child malnutrition. Between March and June, Unrwa's health centres conducted nearly 74,000 screenings for children under the age of five. These screenings revealed approximately 5,500 cases of severe acute malnutrition and over 800 were classified as the most critical.

Unrwa attributes the crisis to the ongoing Israeli blockade of Gaza.

The Israeli media outlet Haaretz is quoting an Israeli official, who has been involved in the Gaza ceasefire negotiations, as saying that Israel is – for the first time- open to the possibility of ending the war in Gaza during its talks with Hamas.

"This negotiation is different than the ones that brought about the previous deals," the official told Haaretz. He added: "While the previous deals dealt with the release of the hostages and the release of murderers, this deal touches on the issue of ending the war. Therefore, everything is interconnected. This is a very complex deal”.

According to the official, "this negotiation touches on issues of how the war will end or continue, what will happen in Gaza and how all the hostages will be returned. Within the framework of the deal, there is an entire clause that deals with issues to be discussed regarding the end of the war. Both parties can add topics, and they will be discussed within the 60-day cease-fire”.

Fifty-five people have been arrested in London at a rally against the proscription of Palestine Action outside the UK parliament on Saturday, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Demonstrators gathered in support of the organisation, which was proscribed under anti-terror laws earlier this month.

They held up placards reading "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action" before police began bundling attendees into vans.

Similar protests took place in Edinburgh, Cornwall and other parts of the country, also leading to arrests.

A counter-demonstration by pro-Israel activists in London - holding placards that read "there is no genocide" and describing the population of Gaza as "2 million human shields" - was shielded by police.
