Live: Iran holds funeral for top military, nuclear figures killed in Israeli strikes

US President Donald Trump said his country has nothing to do with the Israeli attacks on Iran, adding that the US military’s “full strength and might” will come down at levels “never seen before” if “attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran”.

“However, we can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel, and end this bloody conflict!!!” he wrote in a post on Truth Social.

Iranian civil aviation authorities said on Sunday that it has extended the closure of the country’s airspace until 3:00pm today (11:30 GMT).

Passengers are urged to avoid visiting Iran’s airports and follow updates on its website.

Israeli media outlet Ynet said on Sunday that the death toll from the Iranian assault on central Israel has risen to four.

A nine-year-old girl was killed in an attack on the Israeli city of Bat Yam, located south of Tel Aviv, according to Ynet. The Israeli Army Radio, however, said the girl aged eight years old.

Another 133 people were wounded, and another 35 has gone missing, according to Israeli media and emergency services.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says its missiles and drones struck fighter jet fuel production facilities and energy supply centers in Israel.

“If Israel continues its hostilities, our attacks will become heavier and more extensive,” the Guards said.

A fire broke out at an oil refinery in Tehran following an Israeli attack, Iranian state media reported.

Efforts to contain the blaze are ongoing, according to state television.

Iranian news agency Tasnim reported early Sunday that an Israeli strike had targeted the country's defence ministry headquarters in Tehran and damaged one of its buildings.

In "an attack on Tehran this evening by the air force of the Zionist regime, the headquarters of the defence ministry was targeted. One of the headquarters' buildings was lightly damaged," the agency said. 

The defence ministry did not comment.

The latest Iranian attack on Israel's north killed three people, according to Haaretz, citing an emergency services report.

Some feared being trapped in the rubble, the report said.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy says he expressed “concern for civilians in Israel” during a call with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Saar.

In a post on X, Lammy also said he “reiterated the UK’s call for a de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East.”

"Now is the time for restraint, calm and a return to diplomacy," he said.

Jordan shuts airspace in fresh wave of Israel-Iran attacks, according to AFP. 

Israel's firefighting service said Saturday that residential buildings were hit and a fire started in the country's coastal and northern districts after Iran launched a new barrage of missiles.

"Several incidents have been reported to the Israel Fire and Rescue Services command centres in the Coastal and Northern Districts, with hits on residential buildings and a fire in an open area", Israel Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Tal Volbovitz said in a statement.

Iran said the Shahran oil depot in Tehran was targeted in an Israeli attack on Saturday but that the "situation was under control".

"The fuel volume in the targeted tank was not high, and the situation is fully under control," Iran's oil ministry's SHANA news agency reported.

Iranian missiles have hit the northern coastal city of Haifa and the neighbouring town of Tamra, according to Israeli media reports. 

There are no immediate reports of injuries in the attack, according to The Times of Israel.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military said it is conducting air strikes on military targets in Tehran.

According to Israeli Channel 12 sources, Israeli security and political cabinet estimates indicate the war with Iran is expected to continue for two to three weeks.

US President Donald Trump said he and Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed in a phone call on Saturday that the conflict between Iran and Israel "should end."

"He feels, as do I, this war in Israel-Iran should end, to which I explained, his war should also end," Trump said on Truth Social, referring to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The US and Israel altered Israel's F-35 warplanes to extend their range without the need for refuelling or compromising on stealth to help Israel's attack on Iran, Middle East Eye can reveal. 

The modification is secret, but two US officials speaking to MEE on condition of anonymity confirmed that Israel did not use mid-air refuelling during its Friday attack on Iran or land their warplanes for refuelling at any nearby countries. 

Instead, the US officials told MEE that Israel and the US modified the F-35's system to carry additional fuel that did not impact the F-35’s stealth features. The Israeli designation for their version of the F-35s is called the F-35I Adir.

The F-35 is the only long-range stealth fighter in the world, and its features make it difficult for radar or infrared sensors to track it. 

The scale of Israel’s Friday attack and the surprise nature of it mean the improvement is a sea change for the F-35, the US officials told MEE.
