Hamas leadership has said that its internal assessement indicates that the recent round of negotiations in Cairo have failed, according to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.

They added that the Israeli proposal, which calls for Hamas' disarmament as a condition for a permanent ceasefire, violates the movement's "red lines."

"The resistance's weapons are a red line," one source told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.

The source also said that the proposal fails to ensure an end to the war on Gaza and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces.

According to the report, the Israeli proposal was rejected unanimously by all Palestinian resistance groups.

Yemeni militias are reportedly planning to launch a ground offensive against the Houthis, following a large-scale US attack against the group, US and Yemeni officials say.

The ramped-up bombing campaign, which has killed at least 123 people since mid-March and compounded an already dire humanitarian situation in the country, has severely degraded the Houthi’s capabilities, the officials claimed.

Strikes have targeted Sanaa, the port city of Hodeidah and the Houthi stronghold of Saada, including densely populated areas.

US and Yemeni officials told the Wall Street Journal that Yemeni factions are planning to use the strikes on the Houthis as an opportunity to oust the group from some of their strongholds across the Red Sea coast.

Israeli forces have killed dozens of civilians in Lebanon since a ceasefire took effect late last year, including a number of women and children, the United Nations said on Tuesday.

The UN human rights office reported that Israeli military operations had killed and injured civilians in Lebanon in the four months since the fragile truce between Israel and Hezbollah on 27 November.

"According to our initial review, at least 71 civilians have been killed by Israeli forces in Lebanon since the ceasefire came into effect," human rights office spokesman Thameen al-Kheetan told reporters in Geneva.

"Among the victims are 14 women and nine children," he said, adding that "the violence must stop immediately".

The Maldives announced Tuesday it was banning the entry of Israelis from the luxury tourist archipelago in "resolute solidarity" with the Palestinian people.

President Mohamed Muizzu ratified the legislation shortly after it was approved by parliament on Tuesday.

"The ratification reflects the government's firm stance in response to the continuing atrocities and ongoing acts of genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people," his office said in a statement.

"The Maldives reaffirms its resolute solidarity with the Palestinian cause."

The ban will be implemented with immediate effect, a spokesman for Muizzu's office told AFP.

The Maldives, a small Islamic republic of 1,192 strategically located coral islets, is known for its secluded white sandy beaches, shallow turquoise lagoons and Robinson Crusoe-style getaways.

Official data showed that 59 Israeli tourists visited the archipelago only in February, among 214,000 other foreign arrivals.

Around 700 Israeli settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex on Tuesday under heavy protection from the Israeli police, according to Wafa news agency.

Local sources reported that the Israeli police imposed strict restrictions on the entry of worshippers and detained some Palestinians who tried entering the mosque complex as the settlers performed Talmudic rituals on the third day of the Jewish Passover holiday.

The Israeli police transformed Jerusalem and its Old City into a military barracks, deploying thousands of officers and special forces units on the streets and roads to secure the settlers' movement, the report said.

As part of an agreement between Jordan – the custodian of Islamic and Christian sites in Jerusalem – and Israel, only Muslims are allowed to pray in al-Aqsa while Jews can perform prayers by the Western Wall.

The UN humanitarian agency (OCHA) has warned that "violence is surging" and "displacement is at record levels" in the occupied West Bank.

"Aid groups are stepping in, but we must not let the West Bank become another Gaza," OCHA's office in Palestine said in a post on X.

According to the agency's monthly update, 44,285 Palestinians were displaced across the occupied West Bank during January and February 2025 amid Israeli raids. Of those, 38,710 were "displaced due to Palestinian and Israeli forces' operations," OCHA said.

It also reported that home demolitions carried out by Israeli forces displaced 2,765 people. An additional 837 were forced to leave their homes due to settler violence and restrictions on movement.

A group of officers and reservists from the Israeli Special Operations and Cyber Directorates have published open letters reiterating calls for an end to the Gaza war and a return to negotiations to ensure the release of the captives.

In a statement quoted by Israeli Army Radio, reservists from the Cyber Directorate accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of prolonging the war for his "political survival."

The report said 150 Golani Brigade members are among those who signed an open letter.

Former members of Special Operations units said that "the Israeli government and its leader are a clear and immediate danger to Israel's security and to the lives of the hostages."

Last week, almost 1,000 Air Force personnel published a letter calling for the return of all captives and an end to the war.

Former and active-duty members of the military in various units, from the Armoured Corps to the Navy and Medical Corps, joined the call in several other open letters supporting the sentiment.
