Israel likely used over $1bn worth of defensive systems to stop Iran's attacks overnight, according to a former financial adviser to Israel's military.
"The defence tonight was on the order of 4-5bn shekels [$1-1.3bn]," estimated Reem Aminoach, former financial adviser to the Israeli military's chief of staff, in an interview with Israel's Ynet news.
"If we're talking about ballistic missiles that need to be brought down with an Arrow system, cruise missiles that need to be brought down with other missiles, and UAVs, which we actually bring down mainly with airplanes - then add up the costs - $3.5m for an Arrow missile, $1m for a David's Sling, such and such costs for airplanes. An order of magnitude of 4-5bn shekels."
Iran's foreign ministry has summoned the ambassadors of the UK, France and Germany to question what it described as an "irresponsible stance" on its drone and missile attacks on Israel, Iran's Labour News Agency reported on Sunday.
Israel's war on Gaza has killed at least 33,729 Palestinians and wounded 76,371 since 7 October, the Palestinian health ministry said on Sunday.
The new death toll comes after Israeli attacks killed 43 Palestinians and wounded 62 more over the past 24 hours, the ministry added.
Tehran's Mehrabad airport and airports in several other Iranian cities have cancelled domestic flights until Monday morning, according to Iran's Mehr news agency.
Italy, which currently holds the presidency of the G7, has called a video meeting of G7 leaders on Sunday to discuss the escalating situation between Iran and Israel.
"We express our deep concern about a further destablisation of the situation in the region and continue to work to avoid that," Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said X.
The call will be held in the early afternoon European time, according to an Italian government statement.
US President Joe Biden said there would be a coordinated G7 diplomatic response to Iran's missile attacks, which he condemned. Meanwhile, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said he hoped that the Israeli government showed restraint in its response.
"I hope that the Israeli government will adopt a cautious line. I hope that there will be no counterattack to the counterattack," Tajani told an Italian radio station.
Most of the Iranian drones flying over Syrian airspace overnight were downed by Israeli and US jets before reaching their targets in Israel, two intelligence sources told Reuters on Sunday.
They said the aerial interceptions shot down dozens of missiles and drones above Deraa province in southern Syria, over the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights and several areas in eastern Syria near the border with Iraq.
Lebanese news outlets are reporting Israeli strikes in the Baalbek district of northeastern Lebanon.
Israel has struck Baalbek, an area deep inside Lebanese territory, several times over the past few months amid ongoing cross-border attacks between Israel's military and Hezbollah.
British Defence Secretary Grant Shapps said the UK deployed additional Royal Air Force fighter jets to the Middle East to help intercept "any airborne attacks within range of our existing missions".
Shapps added that refuelling tankers were also sent to the region. The Royal Air Force took part in intercepting some of the drones launched by Iran against Israel on Saturday night.
The Kingdom of Jordan said in a statement from its cabinet that it intercepted some flying objects that entered its airspace on Saturday to ensure the safety of citizens.
"Some shrapnel fell in multiple places during that time without causing any significant damage or any injuries to citizens," the statement said.
The remains of missiles, believed to be from Iran's retaliatory strike on Israel, were found in Marj al-Hamam in Amman, the capital of Jordan.
Israeli settlers on Saturday night attacked cars belonging to Palestinians in the Bethlehem governorate in the occupied West Bank, according to Wafa.
The attacks come amid a recent surge in Israeli settler violence against Palestinians in recent days.
On Friday, Israeli settler militias stormed the village of al-Mughayyir and opened fire on Palestinians, killing one Palestinian man and wounding at least 25 others.
Palestinian news outlets are reporting that Palestinian fighters exchanged fire with Israeli forces in central Gaza on Saturday night.
There were also reports of Israeli artillery shells targeting the Nuseirat refugee camp, which is also in central Gaza.
Hamas released a statement on Iran's retaliatory strikes against Israel, saying that the attack was "a natural and deserved response to the aggression against the embassy in Damascus".
Iran launched the attack in response to an air strike on 1 April that targeted Iran's consulate building in Damascus, killing three top Iranian generals. Israel did not claim responsibility for the air strike. However, four Israeli officials told The New York Times that Israel was behind the attack.
The chief of staff of Iran's military gave a warning to the US, saying that if Washington provides support to any Israeli retaliation against Iran, then Tehran would target American bases in response.
The message was given to the United States via Switzerland, according to Iranian state television.
President Biden told Israel's Netanyahu in a phone call that the US would not support any Israeli offensive operations against Iran, according to several US media reports.
Leaders from the Group of Seven plan to hold a video call to discuss the Iranian strikes on Israel, a source in the Italian prime minister's office told Reuters.
