Residents from east Aleppo have sent Middle East Eye recordings of 'cluster bombs' falling in their neighbourhood after the ceasefire was broken.

Middle East Eye cannot independently verify whether it was a cluster bomb being fired upon this neighbourhood but can confirm that the area is currently facing heavy bombardment.

For the safety of the resident we have decided to not publish the location of where exactly the alleged bombing is taking place.

The Syrian army said it could declare full control over eastern Aleppo "at any moment" as it advanced against rebels holed up in just a handful of neighbourhoods, predicting those districts would fall on Tuesday or Wednesday.

"The army continues to advance towards ... Sukkari, what remains of Seif al-Dawla, part of al-Amiriya and Tel al-Zarazir," a military spokesman told Reuters during a tour of recaptured parts of Aleppo.

"When the army regains control of these areas, its operation in the eastern areas of the city... will have finished," he said.

The spokesman added that rebels were continuing to reject withdrawing from the city.

Syrian pro-government forces have been entering homes in east Aleppo and killing civilians inside, the UN said at a press conference.

Speak from Geneva UN human rights spokesman Rupert Colville described the situation in Aleppo as a "complete meltdown in humanity". He said that of the 82 civilians reported shot, 11 were women and 13 were children.

"Yesterday evening, we received further deeply disturbing reports that numerous bodies were lying on the streets," said Mr Colville.

Colville also added: "The residents were unable to retrieve them due to the intense bombardment and their fear of being shot on sight."

Both the UN and the (ICRC) plead with Syrian and its ally Russia to end the bombardment and grant civilians living in the besieged area safe passage.
