Live blog: Gaza under attack

A new picture of the shelling of al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Gaza clearly shows the damage caused when artillery fire hit the building, killing five people.

al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, claims to have killed five Israeli soldiers in an operation to the east of Khan Younis.

Ashfar al-Qudra has published the names and ages of those killed in the attack on Burj al-Asraa.

At least 11 people are now confirmed dead by Palestine's Health Ministry in the bombing of Burj al-Asraa, the central Gaza tower-block that contains 40 flats.

A huge attack has hit Burj al-Asraa, a tower block in central Gaza, killing seven people so far.

Ashfar al-Qudra, the Palestinian Health Ministry's spokesperson, reported that five of the dead are children.

Lebanese news channels are broadcasting a unified news bulletin on Monday evening in solidarity with Gaza.

There are suggestions that the current intensification of shelling in Gaza aims to give Israel a chance to evacuate injured soldiers from the city.

The Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has issued a threat to al-Jazeera, saying that Israel will work to prevent the outlet from operating from inside Israel, reports Haaretz.

al-Jazeera has been covering reports from its correspondents on the ground since the outset of Operation Protective Edge.

Ismail Haniyeh, a founder member of Hamas, has just given a speech in which he outlined Hamas's demands:

1. A halt to the aggression

2. An end to the blockade

3. The freeing of those taken prisoner after events in the West Bank.

He also said that Eid al-Fitr, the festival at which Muslims celebrate the end of Ramadan, will be two festivals: Eid al-Fitr and a celebration of victory.

There are reports that Gaza is subject to intensified bombing at the moment, with Mohammed Omar saying that residential areas are under attack.
