The UN Security Council called for an "immediate ceasefire" as Israel pressed on with a blistering assault on Gaza on Monday taking the Palestinian death toll above 500.
The Security Council held urgent talks on the conflict, expressing "serious concern about the growing numbers of casualties."
"The members of the Security Council call for an immediate cessation of hostilities," said Rwandan ambassador Eugene Richard Gasana, whose country chairs the 15-member council.
During the Security Council talks, Palestinian envoy Ryad Mansour called for decisive steps to end the violence, and voiced frustration with what he termed the world body's failure to take a strong stand.
"The Council failed again and again to shoulder its responsibility," Mansour told reporters.
A further 12 bodies have been lifted from the rubble in Shejaiya, reports Anadolu Agency.
The latest discovery brings the death toll from Sunday alone to 110 according to the agency.
Meanwhile, al-Quds News Network reports that Israeli artillery attacks on districts in the east of Shejaiya were renewed early on Monday morning.
France's interior minister Monday said there were acts of anti-Semitism during a rally against Israel's Gaza offensive, which descended into violence pitting pro-Palestinians against Jews.
"When you head for the synagogue, when you burn a corner shop because it is Jewish-owned, you are committing an anti-Semitic act," Bernard Cazeneuve told reporters outside the Sarcelles synagogue.
Eighteen people were arrested in Sunday's demonstration in Sarcelles.
The blistering Gaza offensive has deeply polarised opinion in a country that counts the largest Muslim population in western Europe and a huge Jewish community.
The rally had been banned, but the bans have drawn controversy as the rallies took place anyway and turned violent, while authorised ones elsewhere in the country -- as well as across Europe -- were peaceful.
Israel's UN Ambassador Ron Prosor denied on Sunday that an Israeli soldier was captured by Gaza fighters.
The armed wing of wing of Hams, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, posted a picture on Twitter purportedly showing the captured Israeli soldier Shaul Aron.
