Hamas have offered an amnesty for those working as collaborators with Israel in Gaza, according to al-Majd news site.

The site, close to the strip's security services, released a copy of a statement that explained the crackdown on alleged collaborators.

At least 18 people have been executed in Gaza on Friday.

Translation of bold text: The phenomenon of collaboration within our people is atypical, passing and limited. We warn all those who have fallen into treachery, or those who are considering becoming an instrument for the enemy’s crimes, that they will inevitably face the same fate. All those who fall into the mire of collaboration must give himself up to the resistance to seek pardon for his crimes – the resistance will show him mercy and take care of his reputation.

There may be further executions of collaborators on Friday, a source close to Gaza’s security services reports.

Al-Majd wrote on Facebook: “From the resistance: the security operation is ongoing and will reach a large number of agents and suspected agents – it will implement the procedures of the revolutionary court.”

At least 18 people, and as many as 21, have been executed in Gaza on Friday, including seven people in a public square outside the strip’s central mosque.

Six of the executed collaborators were grabbed from among hundreds of worshippers leaving the city's largest mosque, by men in the uniform of Hamas's military wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, witnesses told AFP.

They were pushed to the ground. One of the masked men shouted: "This is the final moment of the Zionist enemy collaborators," then the gunmen sprayed them with bullets.

Earlier, another witness saw 11 people shot dead in a square near the remains of Gaza police headquarters, bombed by Israeli warplanes.

An 18th person was shot in front of bystanders in a separate incident nearby.

The Hamas-linked website Majd, said the 11 were killed after they "gave information to the Zionist enemy."

A list of accusations against the executed collaboraters were reportedly pinned to the wall in Gaza today.

Translation: A summary of the most important clauses of the charge: Providing information to the enemy of the locations of packages and tunnels, as well as the sites of resistance fighters’ houses and rockets –these were bombed by occupation forces, leading to a number of deaths among the resistance. Based on this, revolutionary justice was carried out.The Palestinian Resistance

Seven Palestinians, accused of collaborating with Israel, have been executed in a Gaza City public square, a Hamas website said.

The men had their heads covered and hands tied before being shot dead by masked gunmen, as people exited a nearby mosque after Friday prayers, al-Majd said.

It takes the total executed on Friday for collaboration with Israel to at least 17.

Collaboration with Israel is punishable by death under Palestinian law. Israeli forces use information passed to them by collaborators to plan arrests and carry out assassinations against political and military leaders.

A tweet by the Israeli prime ministers’ office, using an image from the execution of American journalist James Foley, has been deleted. It had compared Hamas to the Islamic State (IS).

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has tried to build a media campaign around a comparison of the two groups, even though IS have accused Hamas of being “unbelievers”.

The prime minister’s Twitter account then put out a similar comment but with a different photo, showing just a black flag associated with IS.

"We wanted to show the similarities between IS and Hamas. But then we understood the sensitivity of the picture and put out a different one," an Israeli official who declined to be named told dpa.
