The operation to free and secure the kosher supermarket in Porte de Vincennes is not over yet, French media report.
Police have been seen running to the back of the market, and are "clearly looking for someone" according to Donald Hebert, a correspondent for Le Nouvel Observator.
Reports suggest that at least four hostages were killed during the raid, although there has not yet been confirmation from France's Interior Ministry.
French daily Le Monde has confirmed that the man killed during the recent raid on a kosher supermarket was suspected in yesterday's attack on police officers that killed one policewoman and injured a policeman.
Amedy Coulibaly, 32, is thought to have had links to Cherif Kouachi, one of two brothers suspected of carrying out the Charlie Hebdo massacre.
The pair were seen together in 2010 while allegedly visiting another terror suspect, Jamal Beghal, as part of a failed prison break-out plot.
A woman thought to be Coulibaly's girlfriend, Hayat Boumedienne, 26, remains on the run.
